The course material for DSE 212 just arrived. Once I’d got over the weight of the package, I opened it to discover that it consists of a number of large text books, a couple of DVD, CDs, software and the usual assorted paraphernalia - part threes, course updates and errata. I haven’t really written much about my studying with the Open University but someone recently commented on blogging their experiences throughout their courses and there might be some mileage in it.
Today I discovered several things. First, the Open University’s Using Mathematics (MST121) software is in Java and runs just fine under Ubuntu – Thunar was perfectly happy with the addition of “open with: java -jar %1″.
